You cannot sit for the ARMRIT exam without comprehensive MRI education, clinical hours, and proven competency. Three things carry the most weight at your scanner.
Safety
A full exam section on MRI safety: ACR zones, SAR, projectiles, implants, screening, and contrast. Every renewal takes MRI-only continuing education.
Competencies
Four tested areas: MR physics, clinical applications, safety, and cross-sectional anatomy. You pass every section, not just the total, and prove clinical competency before you sit.
Hours
ARMRIT accreditation requires 1,000 documented MRI clinical hours on real scanners, signed off by licensed staff.
Our program goes past that. Students log 600+ didactic hours, 800+ simulated scans, and 93 signed-off competencies before they reach your scanner.

An ARMRIT student takes the same classes a registered tech takes to cross-train into MRI. ARRT recognized that coursework for cross-training. One program, two ways in.
ARMRIT student
No prior credential. Trains for MRI directly and earns the ARMRIT credential.
ARRT-registered tech
Already registered. Adds MRI and earns the ARRT MRI credential.
ARRT-recognized continuing education
The curriculum is ASRT-approved for 25 Category A CE credits (Ref. VAZ02050002) and listed in the ARRT CE database. It is the same education ARRT accepts for MRI cross-training.
The same job as an ARRT(MR) tech.
For an MRI role, an ARMRIT tech and an ARRT(MR) tech do the same work. The only difference is that ARMRIT covers MRI only.
ARMRIT allows direct entry into MRI. ARRT MRI gets added to an existing registration. Both qualify a tech to practice MRI. A role that also needs CT or X-ray takes an ARRT credential, since ARMRIT covers MRI only. State licensure requirements vary.

It is accepted. ARMRIT is named in the MRI accreditation standards of all four CMS-recognized accrediting bodies (ACR, The Joint Commission, IAC, and RadSite), recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the VA, and listed for MRI licensure in several states. Employers like RadNet, HCA, AdventHealth, Akumin, and RAYUS name "ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT" right in their MRI-technologist job postings.
No. ARMRIT is an independent national registry that sets the standard and administers the exam. Tesla MR is a separate program that prepares students to sit for it. We are accredited by ARMRIT, but we are two different organizations.
Yes. An ARMRIT-registered technologist is qualified to perform MRI exams as a full MRI technologist. One honest caveat: ARMRIT is MRI-only. If a role requires MRI plus CT or X-ray, that person would also need the ARRT credential for the other modality.
ARRT is a multi-disciplinary registry where MRI is a post-primary credential added on top of a primary like X-ray. ARMRIT is dedicated to MRI and allows direct entry, so a candidate trains for MRI without first becoming an X-ray tech. For an MRI role the two carry the same scope of practice, and many technologists hold both.

Tesla MR is accredited by ARMRIT (programmatic). ARMRIT is not USDE-recognized, and Tesla MR does not participate in federal Title IV aid. State licensure to practice as an MRI technologist varies; some states require additional credentials beyond ARMRIT. Placement and outcomes are not guaranteed.
